Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar 2025
The Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar competition is back, and we can’t wait to honour those individuals who make a difference in the agricultural industry.
With the Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar competition, Bayer Crop Science would like to give recognition to the women who form the backbone of our farming community: whether it’s our farmers’ wives or the women who stand at the head of a farming operation.
The criteria for the competition will be based on the woman’s overall involvement on the farm as well as in her broader community.

Who can be nominated?
Female farmers, or the wives of farmers who farm with crops, can be nominated. Please note that only female farmers or the wives of farmers who farm with one or more Bayer or DEKALB® product/s may be nominated for this competition. Entries from livestock farmers will only be accepted if they also farm with crops.
Nominations can be submitted by the farmer/wife herself or by any affiliate of the farmer or farmer’s wife. This includes the farmer, a Bayer or DEKALB® representative, family members, friends and/or community members.
Entries open on 1 March 2025 and close at midnight on 30 June 2025.
WHAT PRIZES WILL BE UP FOR GRABS?
Two winners will be announced. The winner in the category for female farmer of the year, will win R15 000 worth of products while the winner in the farmer’s wife category will win R10 000 to be donated to a charity of her choice. Both winners will also receive a R2 000 voucher from Bayer, a R1 500 voucher from Uppe Marketing and three signed books by author, Milanie Vosloo.
When will the winners be announced?
The finalists will be disclosed in July and the winners will be announced at a special event in August 2025. Watch this space! More information regarding the award ceremony will be communicated at a later stage.
It is with great pride that we congratulate the winners of the 2024 Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar competition. Franelyn Rossouw walked away with the first prize in the female farmer category while Karin Mathews won the first prize in the farmer’s wife category. The role these ladies play, not only on the farm, but in their families and in their broader communities, is remarkable.
We visited them on the farm to hear their stories. Watch with us!
