Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar 2026
It is our greatest privilege each year to pay tribute to the women who make a meaningful contribution to the agricultural industry. And this year, we are doing it again!
Through the Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar competition, Bayer Crop Science aims to recognise the women who form the heartbeat of our farming communities – whether they are farmers’ spouses or women who are farmers in their own right.
The judging criteria focus on the participant’s overall involvement, not only on the farm but also within her community.
Who can be nominated?
Women who farm, or the spouses of farmers who farm with crops, may be nominated. Please note that only women who farm themselves or the spouses of farmers who farm with one or more Bayer crop protection products or DEKALB® seed may be nominated for this competition. Entries from individuals who farm with livestock will only be accepted if they also farm with crops.
Nominations may be submitted by the farmer/woman herself or by any affiliate of the farmer or female farmer. This includes the farmer, a Bayer or DEKALB® representative, family members, friends and/or community members.
Entries open on 11 May 2026 and close at midnight on 31 August 2026.
WHAT PRIZES CAN BE WON?
Two winners will be announced. The winner in the Female Farmer of the Year category will receive Bayer/DEKALB® products to the value of R20 000, while the winner in the Farmer’s Wife category will receive R20 000 to be donated to a charity of her choice.
When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced at a special event in October 2026. Watch this space!
More information regarding the prize-giving will be communicated at a later stage.
Meet 2025’s winners
It is with great pride that we congratulate the winners of the 2025 Bayer Boervrou van die Jaar competition!
They are Katlego Kubedi, who was crowned the winner in the Female Farmer of the Year category, and Margerite van Niekerk, who took top honours in the Farmer’s Wife category. Both Katlego and Margerite not only excel on their farms, but also work to make a difference in their communities.
